About Pre-K

Pre-K worksheets are about play with a purpose. At three and four, children are learning to count small groups, recognise a few numerals and letters, spot shapes and colours, and hold a pencil well enough to trace a line. None of that needs a worksheet every day, but a short tracing or matching page after a story is a calm way to practise, and it gives you a clear picture of what your child can already do. The pages here are deliberately simple: big shapes, few items per page, and plenty of room to colour. Treat them as ten-minute activities, not lessons.

Frequently asked questions

Are these Pre-K worksheets free?

Yes. Every worksheet on ChalkBee is free to view and print or save as a PDF, with no login required, and the answer key is free too. Pro removes the watermark and adds differentiated sets, worksheet packs and unlimited custom generation.

Do the worksheets have answer keys?

Yes, free, on every sheet. The answers are computed in code from the exact questions on the page, and the key prints on a page of its own so the student sheet stays clean.

What topics do Pre-K worksheets cover?

This page has 69 Pre-K worksheets covering Addition, Dice Addition, Subtraction, Counting, Comparing Length and Sorting & Counting Data and more.

How do I print or download them?

Open any set, then use your browser's print option to print it or to save it as a PDF. The pages are laid out to print cleanly on standard letter or A4 paper.

What is Pre-K called in other countries?

Pre-K, or preschool, is the year before Kindergarten in the United States, for children aged about 4. In England the nearest match is Nursery and the start of Reception, and in Australia it is Kindergarten or Preschool depending on the state (the year before Foundation or Prep).

Should a 4-year-old be doing worksheets?

Only short ones, and only alongside plenty of play. A tracing or counting page takes five to ten minutes and works best as a game. If your child is not interested, put it away and try another week; nothing on this page is required before school starts.
