What is Year 9? Year 9 is the third and final year of secondary school in Key Stage 3 (KS3), just before pupils begin their GCSE courses in Key Stage 4. Pupils are usually 13 to 14 years old. It completes the KS3 mathematics programme of study, England's National Curriculum for Years 7 to 9, and typically reaches into topics such as Pythagoras' theorem and trigonometric ratios that the programme sets out for this key stage.
