Grade 8 worksheets
This page has 102 free printable Grade 8 worksheets across maths and English topics. Every worksheet includes an answer key, prints cleanly or saves as a PDF, and needs no login. For maths, the answer keys are computed in code, so they are never wrong.
The same age band is Year 9 in the UK, Year 8 in Australia and Year 9 in New Zealand.
About Grade 8
Grade 8 is pre-algebra finished and algebra begun. Linear equations take centre stage: students graph lines, understand slope and y-intercept, solve equations with variables on both sides, and solve pairs of simultaneous equations. Functions are defined and compared, exponents and scientific notation handle very large and very small numbers, and square roots and irrational numbers extend the number system. Geometry covers transformations (translations, reflections, rotations and dilations), the Pythagorean theorem and the volume of cylinders, cones and spheres. Statistics adds scatter plots and lines of best fit. The worksheets on this page cover the whole syllabus, with the linear equations and functions pages the ones to prioritise before Algebra 1.
What children typically learn in Grade 8
- Graph linear equations, understand slope and intercept, and write the equation of a line.
- Solve linear equations with variables on both sides and systems of two linear equations.
- Define, evaluate and compare functions from tables, graphs and equations.
- Use integer exponents, scientific notation, square roots and irrational numbers.
- Apply translations, reflections, rotations and dilations, and use the Pythagorean theorem.
- Find the volume of cylinders, cones and spheres, and interpret scatter plots.

Frequently asked questions
Are these Grade 8 worksheets free?
Yes. Every worksheet on ChalkBee is free to view and print or save as a PDF, with no login required, and the answer key is free too. Pro removes the watermark and adds differentiated sets, worksheet packs and unlimited custom generation.
Do the worksheets have answer keys?
Yes, free, on every sheet. The answers are computed in code from the exact questions on the page, and the key prints on a page of its own so the student sheet stays clean.
What topics do Grade 8 worksheets cover?
This page has 102 Grade 8 worksheets covering Reading Comprehension, Text Type and Purpose, Formal or Informal Register, Active or Passive Voice, Sentence Structures and Cohesive Devices and more.
How do I print or download them?
Open any set, then use your browser's print option to print it or to save it as a PDF. The pages are laid out to print cleanly on standard letter or A4 paper.
What is Grade 8 called in the UK and Australia?
US Grade 8, for students aged about 13 to 14, lines up with Year 9 in England, Year 8 in Australia and Year 9 in New Zealand. Students in all four systems are working towards the same algebra and geometry foundations for their senior courses.
What maths should a student know by the end of Grade 8?
Typically: linear equations and their graphs, systems of equations, functions, exponents and scientific notation, square roots and irrational numbers, transformations, the Pythagorean theorem, volume of curved solids, and scatter plots with lines of best fit.
